Swansea based Icon Computer Services are pleased to announce they have been awarded a three year contract to supply and install computer systems for Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council and Baglan IT Centre, to include council departments, libraries, leisure facilities, education and training establishments.
To win the contract Icon was in competition with many other companies, including industry giants Viglen and Dell, to offer the best overall value for money. The award evaluated the quality of the equipment and supply chain plus the ability to deliver services and support, as well as the commercial value of the contract.
Managing Director Ieuan Rees said “I am very pleased that we have been able to secure this contract in the face of stiff competition. We believe that Icon Computer Services’ high-quality approach to providing equipment and services will continue to reap rewards for the council by providing greater productivity and reduced system downtime.”
The contract was tendered using candidates previously selected as part of the Value Wales framework; a Welsh Assembly Government public sector initiative to produce cost savings by promoting collaboration in the purchasing of supplies and in the delivery of services.
Ali Thomas, deputy leader and board member for finance and improvement at Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council said: "I am delighted a local company has been awarded the contract. Neath Port Talbot Council is committed to working with the local business community, wherever possible."
The Neath-Port Talbot contract is worth an estimated £350,000.00 per year. It has been awarded for three years with an option to extend for a further 12 months.
